Description
Lagoon 42 – 2024, 3-Cabin Owners Version
The latest generation Lagoon 42 continues the model’s reputation as one of the world’s most popular catamarans, combining modern design, smart functionality, and impressive sailing performance. In the 3-cabin layout – also known as the Owners Version – the starboard hull is dedicated to the owner, featuring a spacious cabin, generous wardrobe space, and a private bathroom with separate shower. The port hull houses two guest cabins, each with its own bathroom, ensuring comfort and privacy for everyone on board.
Design & Comfort
With sleek lines, an expansive coachroof, and Lagoon’s signature vertical hull windows, the Lagoon 42 is both elegant and practical. The open-plan connection between saloon and cockpit provides seamless flow, while large windows bring in natural light and offer panoramic views. The cockpit and saloon are designed for socialising, with ample seating, a dining table, and a galley positioned facing the outdoor area.
Sailing Performance
The Lagoon 42 is designed for easy handling, with a self-tacking jib, balanced rig, and a sail plan that performs well on both long passages and shorter trips. The mast is positioned further aft for improved balance, while the raised helm station offers excellent visibility and safe manoeuvring.
Life Onboard
This model is built for extended stays at sea. The spacious owner’s suite functions as a private retreat, while the guest cabins provide comfortable accommodation for friends or family. The galley and living spaces are designed with functionality, storage, and comfort in mind.
Summary
The 2024 Lagoon 42 Owners Version is the ideal choice for sailors seeking a modern, spacious, and comfortable catamaran – perfect for both long-distance cruising and weekend getaways. It combines Lagoon’s proven build quality with innovative design and a high standard of onboard comfort.
Ocean Crosser
This Lagoon 42, “Ocean Crosser”, has proven its capability as a safe and comfortable bluewater cruising catamaran, with a voyage history spanning over 14,500 nautical miles – from France to the Caribbean and back via Florida and the Azores. The boat has been sailed conservatively, always with one reef more than recommended to reduce wear on sails and rigging.
The sail inventory includes an Elvstrøm mainsail and jib, as well as an asymmetric gennaker and Code-0 from Gran Sails – optimised to overlap down to a 165–170° wind angle. All sails are in excellent condition. Engines have been serviced according to all recommended intervals, and the boat cruises at approximately 6–6.5 knots on one engine and up to 7.5 knots on both.
Ocean Crosser is set up for “off-grid” use, with solar panels and a battery bank providing 3–4 days of operation for fridge, freezer, and 220V appliances without the need for engine charging. For anchoring, the boat is equipped with an oversized Ultra stainless steel anchor, which has delivered exceptional holding power in winds up to 40 knots during over 100 consecutive days at anchor.
The boat is currently in Kiel and can be viewed by appointment.
