Description
I wanted to design and build this 3rd cruising sailboat without any compromise on the quality of materials and equipment and without counting the hours of labor and study costs.
Bambou40 is an easy-to-sail long-distance sailboat, gentle at the helm but fast.
The choice of rigging allows for single-handed management of the boat with quick and simple sail reductions and re-reefs from the cockpit.
After experiencing aluminum on my two previous boats, I opted for composite, with a wood/foam epoxy glass sandwich, strong, well-insulated, and lightweight.
The unshrouded carbon rig, lightweight and quick to set up, allows for easy river sailing, thanks also to the small draft of only 1.0m with high keels.
The engine with Keelcooling is also a guarantee of peace of mind and longevity for the mechanics, which does not suffer damage from seawater, and ensures perfect engine cooling in all conditions including mud, leaves, sand, or other ice... And even in dry dock, of course!!!
Additional Information
Built in composite:
- hull (live works) in shape: strip planking in red cedar with reinforcements at the bow and flotation that will allow for a serene polar navigation.
- sides and deck in 30mm sandwich plywood/Airex foam/glass/epoxy.
Light and strong!
With good sound and thermal insulation. Zero condensation!
Planing hull and keel fin (weighted dinghy) for safe landing.
- Keel in galvanized steel with Meta grip + epoxy (base 75mm!)
Lead ballast cast in the fuel tank.
Two beautiful daggerboards, sabre and asymmetrical, for a performant close-hauled.
Two rudders on the transom for smooth and precise control, rotating in case of shock (fuse) to avoid breakage! Also protected from dirt when raised in port.
A performant rig that is very simple to maneuver with its 2 self-supporting and rotating carbon masts! Light and strong!
The battened sails made by Delta Voiles with special travel fabric Hybrid 7.65 and 9.65.
The reduction takes a few seconds... effortlessly and without leaving the cockpit!! all with only 2 ST40 Andersen winches!
