Owner's opinion

After many rentals and a shared purchase with friends of a Sun Odyssey 45, we wanted to acquire a larger boat that better met the specifications we had established over these years of sailing. Discovering the brand new Dufour 500 at the Paris boat show in December 2012 allowed us to realize our ambition, as this boat perfectly met our wishes in terms of layout, functionality, and expected performance given the hull profile. The boat was delivered to us in May 2013, and we quickly found that all our wishes were largely fulfilled, including in terms of comfort and performance (we opted for the Grand Prix version with a 1.40 m extended mast). Thus, we fully enjoyed this sailboat along the French coasts from Fécamp to Hendaye, in England from the Isle of Wight to the Scilly Islands, as well as along the northern coast of Spain. The purchase of a hydrogenerator happily became necessary, allowing us to sail for several days exclusively under sails. Additionally, for pleasure, we participated several times in the Tour de Belle Ile (without disgrace) and also took part in the 18 hours of Arcachon. To this day, for health reasons, we reluctantly resign ourselves to parting with this sailboat, which deserves to make beautiful sails rather than being confined to a role as a very comfortable second home.
