Description
ARIA DI MARE is a wooden yawl designed for unlimited sailing and represents an excellent combination of aesthetics and technology. The beauty of her lines is enhanced by the materials used: solid mahogany and laminated wood for the hull, stainless steel for the metal parts, and spacious and very comfortable wooden interiors for two couples and a sailor in the aft cabin/sail locker.
Modern technology ensures comfortable manoeuvring and sailing in all seasons and weather conditions, allowing to steer even from the internal wheelhouse in the deckhouse.
Certified in category A by Udicer-Nautitest, the boat is safe for blue waters sailing and any weather conditions, and the stability and characteristics of the variable pitch propeller engine allow her to easily tackle rough and contrary seas.
The mobile centreboard allows the draught to be limited from 3 m to 1.50 m, enabling access to shallow waters. A retractable larch bowsprit brings the overall length to 18 m and allows for sailing even in light winds, much to the delight of the sailors on board.
The boat has been equipped with an unsinkable device that guarantees maximum safety for the crew on board.
A modern heating system ensures a pleasant temperature inside, both in equatorial climates and at high latitudes.
In 1993, the legendary 40-foot yawl Finisterre, design #1054 by Olin Stephens from 1954, famous for its regatta victories and for her voyages and enterprises documented by National Geographic Magazine, was purchased by an enthusiastic Italian yachtsman and shipped from Antigua (WI) to Italy.
The boat underwent a complete restoration in 2003 and continues to be maintained by her owner, who in the meantime has developed the idea of building a larger Finisterre, a boat inspired by the lines and marine characteristics of that masterpiece, but 54 feet long on deck, 16.60 m, to offer greater comfort and allow and to keep sailing without limits even in old age.
In 2013, the dream came true, and ARIA DI MARE was built by master shipwrights Attilio and Renato Perin, trained in the craft of shipbuilding at the oldest shipyard in the world, Il Cantiere Navale Camuffo in Portogruaro: 18 generations of shipbuilders since 1438.
The current owners restored and renovated her in 2024, and since September 2025, ARIA DI MARE has been awaiting a new owner.
