Wingnut is a masterfully executed example of a Kurt Hughes high-performance design, professionally built for the sailor who refuses to choose between offshore capability and blistering speed. The vessel's pedigree is defined by its extensive use of carbon fiber construction to achieve a rigid, lightweight, and high-performance profile. Key structural components including the rotating mast, boom, and bowsprit (retractable 5’) are all carbon fiber. The Akas (cross beams) are engineered from carbon fiber over cedar strips, while the bulkheads, stringers, center board, and rudder are constructed of carbon fiber. The hull is S-glass, Corecell foam core, and epoxy resin. Meticulously finished by a professional toolmaker and CNC programmer, this boat's attention to detail far surpasses standard production builds.
