OYSTER 655 TURTLE 4 - MOTIVATED SELLER

Broker's Comments

PRICE REDUCED - NOW IN OYSTER NEWPORT

Award-winning and forward-looking design from Humphreys and Oyster make for a spirited performance cruiser capable of winning races and stomping round the globe.

With the 655, performance was an established criterion from the outset. Designer, Rob Humphreys, created a set of hull lines with a relatively fine entry forward and a clean run aft. Add a low center of gravity keel, a modern high aspect rudder and powerful sail plan and the result is a fast yacht that is a pleasure to sail.

The twin helm configuration puts the helmsman in exactly the right place and means that the spacious forward cockpit is safe and uncluttered. It is also much easier to get on and off the working deck since there is virtually flat deck access from the stern into the cockpit.

The saloon makes best use of the yacht’s 18’5” beam and, with the U-shaped galley to port, creates a spacious and contemporary open-plan living environment, with plenty of counter surfaces and stowage space. The 655 has a spacious owner’s suite aft, with its own private access to deck, and three guest cabins.

The 655 has an easily driven, powerful hull, and her in-mast, cutter rig set up allows for generous sail area with a safe and manageable sail plan for cruising around the world or short handed day sailing around your favorite bays.

TURTLE IV features spacious interior volume with accommodation for eight guests in four cabins, with ample storage on deck and below, and well thought out and easily accessible engineering spaces. TURTLE IV was constructed to a high specification, and features all the creature comforts befitting a yacht of this pedigree.

Early viewing recommended.

1. CONSTRUCTION

HULL NUMBER
Oyster 655.05.

HULL CONSTRUCTION
The hull is a composite moulded construction from female tools developed by Oyster in their own custom facility, closely supervised by the Oyster Design Team to ensure a smooth and accurate finish.
Produced using a polyester gelcoat, and a Vinylester laminating resin that is recognised as having excellent UV resistance and waterproofing qualities suitable for use in a tropical environment.
Incorporating a high-tech custom, monolithic (single-skin) E-glass/Carbon/Kevlar composite laminate, specially designed for Oyster by one of the world leaders in composite yacht design, High Modulus.
The HMCK (High Modulus Carbon Kevlar) monolithic system is a ‘balanced’ laminate designed to give ultimate structural properties between the laminate layers.
This ‘custom’ laminate offers significant weight savings, strength and stiffness advantages over a normal GRP construction, carbon for weight and stiffness, Kevlar for impact resistance.
The composite hull skin is reinforced with a matrix of stringers and floors both above and below the waterline, which produces a robust structure with excellent strength to weight qualities and proven longevity.
Bulkheads are plywood. Limber holes and/or tubes are installed at appropriate points.
Stringers, bulkhead-landings and floors are formed over a non-structural, inert, polyurethane foam.
Additional reinforcements are included in the way of the keel recess, the keel longitudinals, mast bulkhead, P-bracket, forestay, and hull stringers.

HULL FINISH
White hull colour with cove line and double boot top lines in standard Oyster blue.
Hull waxed and polished (2023).
Antifouled, in navy - re-coated (2022 & 2023).

DECK CONSTRUCTION
Deck laminate incorporates an end-grain balsa for both insulation and panel stiffness.
In load-bearing areas the core is replaced with either marine plywood, or high density foam.
The deck laminate specification has been specially engineered by High Modulus to optimise strength-to-weight ratio and cosmetic finish, with E-Glass being used throughout.

DECK FINISH
Weather deck, cockpit seats and sole areas finished with quarter-sawn teak planking, laid using epoxy adhesive with no visible fastenings.
G5 deck styling with modern flowing lines and sleek looks both outside and in, whilst maintaining the Oyster trademark and reputation for a light and airy deck saloon.
The deck edge incorporates a bulwark, which facilitates relatively flat side decks whilst providing a good foothold when working the yacht in a seaway. The top of this bulwark has a clean GRP finish with a modern and stylish ‘rolled’ edge that enhances the yacht’s visual appearance with a graceful sheer line.
Internal scupper drains are installed along the deck edge preventing topsides from staining when decks are washed down.
Vessel is fitted with a stylish curved roof to the main saloon deck house, which combined with recessed windows, lowers the apparent outboard profile of the deck saloon.
The main saloon roof has a laid teak finish aft of the sprayhood that folds neatly into a recessed trough. Forward of this, white non-slip paint is applied to the central area.
A pair of stainless steel grab rails are fitted on each side on the outer edges.

KEEL
High performance bulb (HPB) external lead keel.

RUDDER
Fully protected skeg-hung rudder.

STERN DESIGN
