Description
Welcome to the Gunboat 62 Mach Schnell
Originally launched in 2005 as Icon, and best known to many as Elvis, Mach Schnell is hull #4 of the revolutionary Gunboat 62 series. Designed by Morrelli & Melvin and built by Jazz Marine in South Africa, she helped redefine the world of performance multihull racing and cruising.
Acquired by her current owner in 2018, Mach Schnell has undergone some of the most extensive refits and optimizations in Gunboat history: new mast, boom, asymmetric daggerboards, new tillers, optimized racing and cruising sail packages, new traveler, aircraft-grade wiring, structural reinforcement, modern systems via CZone, fresh exterior paint, and upgraded systems throughout. Every update respects her original DNA while aligning her with today’s standards.
But this isn’t just a race-winning platform. With external tillers, an inside wheel, and push-button sail controls configured for shorthanded sailing, she’s also a dream to cruise—fast, forgiving, and fully manageable with just two crew. The current captain regularly sails her double-handed with ease. Her responsiveness on the helm is exceptional: light, direct, and full of feedback. It’s dreamy.
A wolf on the racecourse. A sheep while cruising. Mach Schnell is a rare breed.
