Description
This harder-to-find Model 380 Hunter in Oriental, NC. “Selah” has a 38 foot hull, under 13 feet wide. Selah has been carefully and diligently maintained.
The fractional sail plan was modified by the initial purchaser, having a longer boom and a shortened mast, so she sits 50 feet above the water line, with a 5 foot draft. Selah delivers outstanding performance, easy to maneuver, and lays peacefully at anchor. 36 hp Yanmar 3JH2E engine. 2,500 hours service recently done.
Top decks have nonskid surfaces. The cat walk is newly painted. Chromed steel cockpit Traveler Arch brings the control lines back to the helm under the top deck, all tidy. 90% furling head sail. Navy canvas dodger, bimini, and connector with windshield and helm covers.
Two, newly-refinished taffrail seats (the best spot aboard). The spacious, circular cockpit holds a party of 8 and is perfect for sleeping out. Clean cared-for OEM cockpit cushions. Helm has 2 lift-out tables. Steps take you down from the cockpit to the water’s edge and a swim ladder.
Spares galore
Documented maintenance logs
We include new hatches that have never been installed, perfectly preserved and ready for installation.
Negotiable basic training for any buyer new to big boat sailing
Accommodations
Below Decks
Below decks, is Hunter’s signature, pristine cherrywood and caramel woodwork above a teak-and-holly floor throughout. Upgraded, high quality air conditioning/heat when on shore-power, means she can be used all year (except at sea or anchor of course).
Aft Master’s Stateroom
The aft stateroom is the entire width of the stern. Behind the bulkhead are dual lockers, one of which is a “wet locker” with drainage. A dressing seat. Two fixed windows and FIVE hatches float above the king-sized bed for air and light. Two HUGE shelves stand by for luggage and storage. Ceiling fan.
A private entrance door enters from the galley and another leads to the head, assuring total privacy.
Head and Shower
The head has a shower and ceramic toilet, next a sink and mirrored vanity. Corian counters. Head stays bright with three windows (with shades for privacy at dock) and a deck hatch above each space.
BONUS: On furniture fabrics, we offer a credit from our asking price (up to $5,000) for the cost of re-covering of all the settee cabin cushions and interior seats to your taste.
V-Berth
The bow stateroom has four large cubbyholes under the V-berth. There’s plenty of room for small luggage, tool boxes, or just more storage and a wide, cedar-lined clothes locker.
A Corian topped counter, with mirrored medicine cabinet snuggles by the bed. Enclosed storage below the sink. There are reading lights and an electrical outlet.
Our favorite: There is a large opening hatch above the V-berth providing natural light, ventilation and star gazing from the bed.
A bulkhead and door keeps your privacy from the rest of the boat. A gorgeous hardwood, louvered privacy ‘window’ can be opened for increased light and air or closed for total privacy, still allowing air even if closed
Living Quarters
Between the V-berth and the Galley, there is a spacious and comfortable settee for four to starboard, with a table, floating attached to the stainless steel compression post. A separate, curved settee to port includes a fold-up or down leaf, to add two or four more to join in the festivities at the table.
The whole dining table easily drops down to form a spare double bed.
Massive Storage
All the cabins below have always had more storage than we have ever needed. Up top, storage lockers under the cockpit seating and the massive storage lockers in the aft sugar scoop have also never been full. In addition there are two LP tank lockers with working LP bottles outside the cockpit, easily accessed from the combing. The starboard LP storage has connections to the stove/oven in the galley and a monitoring gauge.
Navigation Station
Amidships, the sit-down nav station is to port, across from the galley. It faces toward bow and features the electric distribution panel, a stereo radio/disc player, book shelf, two tank monitors, and a Victron battery banks monitor.
Galley
The Galley is starboard of the companionway stairs from the cockpit, making transfer of food and beverages up to the cockpit simple and quick. A full L-shaped galley is loaded with cherrywood storage space, drawers and Corian countertops. A newer and improved Sea Frost refrigeration system keeps the fridge and the gigantic freezer both cold - quietly.
The stainless steel double sink faces forward towards the settee. There is a built-in microwave as well as a Force 10, 3-burner propane stove with oven.
There are two large opening hatches, two small hatches and six fixed windows to allow ample natural light and air for both the galley and the salon. A deck hatch is also directly above the stove and there are two ceiling hatches above the entire galley. Air flow design is built in to this boat, with no portion of her interior left stuffy or without lots of air – especially the galley.
Mechanical Equipment
Selah delivers outstanding performance, easy to maneuver, and lays peacefully at anchor. 36 hp Yanmar 3JH2E engine. 2,500 hours service recently done.
Carefully and faithfully documented service.
Access to the engine is by a fiberglass housing under the companionway stairs, which folds up to give open access and make minor maintenance a breeze. The rear of the engine is accessed by a door in the main stateroom (but it is beautifully finished on the outside, with hardwoods and a full, lighted mirror facing towards the main cabin bed).
