PLEASE CONTACT – DEWAYNE DOMINICK - VANCOUVER ISLAND YACHT SALES
Built for adventure, this META Dalu 40 ketch features Strongall® all-aluminum construction, proven bluewater pedigree, and full refit. Hull and topsides are scheduled for sandblasting and repainting this winter. META Dalu 40 A True Bluewater Voyager Some yachts are built for comfort. Some are built for speed. But once in a while, a yacht is built for something greater: for the sheer romance of crossing oceans, chasing horizons, and answering the call of adventure. That is the META Dalu 40. Designed by Joubert-Nivelt and crafted by META Shipyard in Strongall aluminum, Glouton captures the essence of the true bluewater cruiser. She is strong, self-reliant, and ready for anything. More than a sailboat, she is a passport to the world’s wild places, from the trade winds of Polynesia to the icy silence of the Northwest Passage. Her lines are purposeful, her ketch rig balanced, her systems carefully refitted between 2018 and 2021 to carry you further and keep you safe. Step below and you will find the warmth of wood, the practicality of a workshop, and the quiet promise of long passages made in comfort. Above deck, her sails and rigging are designed for the kind of voyaging that fills journals and creates legends. Fresh from an underwater hull refit in 2022, and with her hull and topsides scheduled for sandblasting and repainting this winter, Glouton is poised for her next great adventure. Whether your dream is high latitude exploration, an ocean crossing, or simply living a life unbound, this META Dalu 40 is the yacht that can take you there. Glouton, a META Dalu 40, is an exceptionally robust exploration yacht designed by Joubert-Nivelt and built by the META shipyard in France. Constructed using META’s patented Strongall® process, the hull is made of thick aluminum plating (up to 20 mm at the bottom) that ensures unrivaled strength, safety, and durability. These yachts are famed for their expedition pedigree and ability to withstand the harshest environments, from high latitudes to tropical seas. Originally commissioned in 1998 and launched in 2001, Glouton has sailed extensively from France to the Caribbean to Polynesia and onward to British Columbia, always professionally maintained and upgraded. Between 2018 and 2021, she underwent a comprehensive refit in preparation for a Northwest Passage expedition, including renewed rigging, sails, electrical, plumbing, hydraulics, and interior systems. She offers an expedition-ready interior with a forward cabin, spacious saloon, aft cabin, well-equipped galley, and a starboard workshop with a complete inventory of tools and spares. Systems include a watermaker, solar and wind generation, professional hydraulic steering, oversized rigging, and a reliable Nanni diesel. The vessel also carries an AB aluminum/Hypalon RIB with a recent Nissan outboard. Her underwater hull was fully treated in 2022 with a five-coat epoxy primer and antifouling. Both the hull and topsides are scheduled for sandblasting this winter, with the topsides to be refinished in durable TOPLAC® non-slip paint. This ensures she will be delivered to her next owner structurally pristine and freshly coated, ready for her next voyage. With her hybrid sail plan, reinforced structure, and full expedition outfit, Glouton is a rare opportunity for serious sailors seeking a yacht built to cross oceans and explore the farthest horizons.
