Description

"If you are considering a “sea-change” lifestyle Bluestone is appropriately set up for the live-aboard
cruiser. She has very comfortably and safely indulged us this lifestyle for over 15 years. Bluestone
has proven easy to sail as a couple, although there is ample space for a family to enjoy the lifestyle.
Bluestone is ready to head across the ocean or sail the tropical
cruising grounds of South East Asia; Malaysia – Penang –
Langkawi , into Thailand and beyond, await you. This idyllic
lifestyle is enjoyed by many from all over the world and the
adventures, lessons, friends, picturesque scenery and experience
is second to none.
Australian Registered 15 mt ketch. Completed in 1988, this
Epoxy coated ferro ketch is a classic design. Phenomenally
strong, Bluestone was professionally built and lovingly
maintained. Over the past couple of years the hull has been
stripped back, re-epoxy coated and repainted (photos available),
now just waiting on the final anti-foul paint and she’s ready to
cruise. Mechanically, the generator has been totally rebuilt, a
new (reconditioned) transmission installed, engine cooling system cleaned, and any necessary minor
works so as to ensure she is as ready to go as possible. The rigging has been inspected and replaced as
necessary, the furling system fully serviced and with new roller system, foils and forestay. All sails
have been inspected and maintained as necessary, and a new mizzen sail fitted.
Timber fit-out throughout. She’s a solid, classic, comfortable yacht who’s
seen many a happy hour with friends and family and many a tale to tell, not
once giving us doubt about her ability to bring us safely to port or
anchorage.
In 3 cabins she can sleep a family without being cramped, bring along
guests or she is easily handled by 2 people.
Galley comprising – stove top oven, microwave, under-bench 90lt fridge
and separate 100lt freezer along with ample bench and storage space.
In fact the entire storage space in the yacht is impressive."

'Bluestone', a massively strong yacht

Bluestone was professionally built in Port Adelaide, Australia.  The attending surveyor during construction was a well respected surveyor, Alan Rice.  By coincidence the present owners employed Alan for their pre purchase survey and he told them that the yacht was the best built ferro he had ever seen.

Accommodation

The forward cabin consists of a V-berth and also an optional upper additional berth on the port side.
There are drawers underneath the port side lower V-berth, cupboards above the berth and a wardrobe
on the starboard side. There are substantial lockers underneath both berths and the cabin sole.
The saloon has a dinette on the port side with a large table. On the starboard side is a settee/bunk,
with a TV cupboard on the forward end and a cupboard on the after end, with a storage shelf
adjoining these two units. Behind and under the dinette and the settee provide many lockers behind
the upholstery. There is substantial underfloor storage.
Adjoining the saloon on the port side is the galley with stainless steel sink (pressurized water), Waeco
12 volt refrigeration 100lt top loading fridge and separate Waeco 12 volt 120lt freezer or second
fridge, Roden brand four-burner LPG stove with grill and oven and a microwave is fitted above the
sink. Pressurised and hand pump water supply.
Opposite the galley is a two-berth cabin with built-in drawer unit on the forward end and a small seat
at the after end. Under the seat is a 240volt isolating transformer. From the galley there are steps
ascending to the navigation area with chart table on the port side and a separate wet area on the
starboard side with shower, sink and electric marine toilet. There is access to the engine and
generator under the cabin sole in the navigation area.
On the port side of the navigation area is a passageway leading to the engine room that features a
small workshop on the starboard side. The workshop contains the hot water unit and a bank of seven
batteries.
Moving after along the passage is the after state-room with cupboards on the port side and small settee
on the starboard side with hanging space behind, attached to a chest of drawers. Taking up the after
end of the cabin is a large double berth. There is dressing mirror on the forward bulkhead.
