I am pushing 80, my body doesn't allow me to do the offshore sailing I have been doing for some 60 years. Time to live with my memories and pass on this boat to the younger generation
The 1982 Tayana 55 was entirely rebuilt in 2012 under the supervision of a naval architect
Deck
Removed, replaced and covered with anti-skid material
The 2 Masts were removed and stepped on a new step
New hatches installed
All the chain plates were removed and re-installed
KEEL
The centreboard was removed, and the keel filled with lead. The draft is now 6 feet. The boat is very stiff under sail and points well.
Hull
Additional stringers were added to suppress the hull flex
Below deck
The sole was removed and replaced
2 New aluminium fuel tanks installed
2 New plastic water tanks installed
New plumbing
new 12 V, 110 V wiring and panel
In 2018 complete interior remodeling
All interior hull covering was removed refurbished and replaced where needed.
the ceiling was removed and insulation below the deck installed
The galley was entirely removed new countertops , a new sink and stove were installed. Custom storage cabinets were installed
The master head countertops were replaced with a new sink and faucets. The shower was remodelled and new plumbing and drain pump installed
A vaccu flush head was installed.
The forward head also received new countertops, a new sink and shower and an electric head.
A new water heater installed
The salon received new upholstery.
All-new LED lighting throughout the boat.
The watermaker gauges and filters were replaced
The bow thruster wiring and control at the helm were replaced.
A new upgraded hydraulic steering pump installed
2 New 280 Watts solar panels and controleres installed

The Perkins engine was entirely rebuilt. with a new upgraded heat-exchanger
