We are excited to present this remarkable 1980 Island Trader 46 Motor Sailor for sale on behalf of our client. This sturdy vessel is designed for stability and long-distance cruising, measuring 46 feet in length and 15 feet in beam, with a draft of 5 feet 6 inches.
Key Features:
- Engine: Powered by a 125 hp cummins diesel engine, replaced in 1990 and only has 1907 hours of use. The engine is fuel-efficient, allowing for a maximum speed of 9 knots.
- Construction: Built from fiberglass, the boat features interior with teak and mahogany finishes, along with a full teak deck for durability and aesthetic appeal.
- Accommodation:The boat has had three owners and has recently been modified for expeditions. A removable additional wheelhouse has been added, which can be taken off if not desired. The spacious master cabin at the rear has been converted into two smaller cabins, creating a total of 4 cabins that sleep 11 people. This can easily be returned to the original large master cabin configuration. A newer canopy is included in the sale.
- Equipment: The boat is equipped with davits for the tender, a powerful Onan generator rated at 9.5 kW, three separate battery chargers, and 600 Ah batteries. It also features a 25 kg bow anchor with an electric windlass, shore power, and two Eberspächer 3.5 heaters.
Additional information:
- Bathrooms: The boat includes two bathrooms, each with electric toilets — one connected to a septic system and the other discharging to the sea. It also has a sitting bathtub in both of the bathrooms.
- Sailing Gear: Complete older-age sailing gear is included. The boat features two steering positions and is equipped with a Raymarine chartplotter with radar. The Robertson autopilot needs servicing.
- Safety & Extras: Comes compass, life jackets, rigging, fenders, and various equipment. The boat undergoes annual service and maintenance, including washing, new antifouling, and replacement of anodes as needed. Oil and diesel filters are changed every year. The last haul-out for servicing was in June 2025.
- Tankage: The vessel has a 2000-liter water tank and a 2000-liter diesel tank, with approximately 1000 liters of diesel currently on board.
This Island Trader 46 is ideal for those seeking a comfortable and capable cruising vessel, whether for long voyages or leisurely coastal trips.
