Description
From the decades-long experience of the workers and technicians of the Giammoro nautical hub in Messina, who with the brands Aicon Yachts and Morgan Yachts have built over 380 boats between 18 and 30 meters, the new brand AWAVE is born.
With this name, THY Shipyards intends to develop an entire range of MAXI RIBs that will include models up to 70 feet in length, all designed by architect Lino Siclari who, regarding the Awave 48, the first model of this fleet, says: “I started from the design of a maxi rib, which was to have not too intrusive tubes.
In reality, I had in mind a maxi tender, indeed a party boat, with foldable sides and a large aft platform. I benchmarked with the main players on the stage, such as Wally and Sacs Rebel, and Awave 48 was born. I wanted to design a hybrid day cruiser in the layouts to offer owners the possibility to choose different usage opportunities for the large beach area at the stern.
The different layouts can turn this walkaround into a party boat or a maxi tender equipped with useful spaces to carry bicycles, windsurf boards, and toys.
Awave 48 stands out for the personality of its design and the vast outdoor spaces it offers to its guests.The deck area extends over a surface of 52 square meters, which can be further extended by another 5 by lowering the cockpit terraces. The layout includes two large sunbathing cushions, one at the stern and the other at the bow.
In the cockpit, there is a dinette composed of two opposing sofas, separated by an extendable teak table that can be used both as a coffee table and as a dining table. A T-top in the shape of an arrow effectively protects the dining area, where we also find the kitchen unit with induction burners, sink, and refrigerator.
The helm, with two ergonomic seats for the pilot and co-pilot, integrates two MFD touch screens, various instrumentation, and the maneuvering joystick with Easy Docking function.
Below deck, the Awave 48 offers two cabins with heights exceeding two meters everywhere. The décor is made with bleached oak for the vertical surfaces and dark wenge for the horizontal ones.
Regarding the design, a distinctive element of this model, architect Siclari added: “I wanted to develop the theme of edges and dihedrals in the modeling of the surfaces that give Awave 48 a distinctive and recognizable design.
For ease of management and facilitation of mooring, I placed two posts at the stern with cable passers and cleats, for safe moorings without damage to the hull.
The hull has been tested in a tank and gives excellent results in wave passage and sea holding. The external protection of the hull looks like a tube and is in fact an effective fender with internal T-Shock foam to absorb small bumps during mooring. A fine carpentry enriches the boat both inside and out.”
