Description
The Nordhavn 46 is a timeless passage maker with renowned sea keeping ability, it has achieved an impressive record of successful ocean voyages and circumnavigations and is easily handled by a couple. 'MARKTIME' is capable of cruising non-stop 3,000 nautical miles at 8 knots, current fuel load, 2600 lts. 'MARKTIME' has had no expense spared in preparation for long term cruising and has some excellent features. In point of fact the boat has received many expensive upgrades in successive ownerships.
Her present owner spent heavily in 2022 and has remodeled the boat in interesting ways.. the upper deck is now sheltered by a rigid bimini structure, has surround seating combining large capacity stowage plus a navigation repeating station and new BBQ. At the stern, Tim designed a new swim platform c/w surround railings and a diving ladder. A new diesel diving compressor and 3 tanks in 2022. The interior has been nicely improved and benefited from all new soft furnishings, cushions and window shades etc.
A non exhaustive list of Tim's renewals and upgrades are at the end of the listing.

The foot locker houses all vessel operating and installation manuals. A comprehensive library of navigation and boating volumes exists outboard of the pilot house stairs, next to the MOB light storage and autopilot manifold pump.
Machinery
-
Main Engine: John Deere Lugger six-cylinder normally aspirated 6414D keel-cooled diesel engine of 143 hp., turning a 3-bladed 30″ diam x 22deg pitch propeller.
Lugger engines are renowned for reliability and economy. This engine will survive a lightning strike that will in most cases defeat newer diesel engines with electronic controlled fuel injection. It will run day after day at 6-7-8 Kts depending on sea conditions and the oil pressure and the engine temperature stays the same. You can run her at WOT (wide-open-throttle) and the engine is happy. .
MARKTIME has clocked less than 10k hrs, considering that the boat went non-stop from Dana Pt California to Hawaii and non-stop Hawaii to Singapore in 2011, this is a reliable engine. Engine oil has been religiously changed every 200 hrs plus any necessary renewals.
Total fuel capacity of vessel is 3400 litres, giving a nominal range of 2700Nm or 5000Km under similar sea and weather conditions.
The prop shaft was replaced Dec 2017, cutlass bearing replaced, stern gland repacked with ‘set and forget’ dripless Gortex and shaft coupling cleaned and repainted.
Twin Disc MG5050 SC gear box, 109 hrs, installed new Mar 2013.
Fuel filter system: Dual Racor 500FG water separator/fuel filter, magnetic debugger on main engine, separate Racors for genset and Yanmar.
Oil Changing: Perko 12vdc servo reversible delivery and extraction pump and manifold and back-up hand pump oil extractor.
-
Auxilliary: Backup get-home 35HP Yanmar 3GM30F auxiliary diesel engine, raw water cooled, 148 hrs, driving a folding Martec prop through a V-drive, as the “get-home” power. The auxiliary unit will push the yacht at 4 knots and will have minimal drag when not in use.
-
Genset: New PHASOR genset replaced the old 8Kva Northern Lights genset in the 2022 refit
-
Bow Thruster: New 15HP 12 vdc installed 2022 refit

It is important to appreciate this vessel was purchased and no expense was spared to bring the 1994 build #32 into today’s world. The upgrades, enhancements and general repairs that were all targeted, to get the boat “fit for a long passage” and extensive time away at sea, however due to personal reasons the vessel was only used on a few Malaysia, Thailand weeklong passages. To have it sit in the marina, not being used for what it was bought and upgraded to do, has convinced me that the MARKTIME is ready for a new owner, a fourth owner.
A true liveaboard, in every capacity, if you know about NORDHAVN you know how well these boats are made and made to last. The tragedy will be, my regret that I won’t find another in this condition, price or as ready as she is, now to go to work.
This is not a fire sale, and the new owner/s must fit the boat. If you’re in no rush to get anywhere, but want to do it in style, comfort and safety, this is your boat, she ages gracefully. Many boat owners end up having a “love affair” with their boats, I am not that person, but I know what MARKTIME is and how good these boats are both whilst in use and when passing them on to their next caretaker. These boats normally don’t change hands that often, they are usually bought and kept, they hold their value and are very appealing, my personal situation doesn’t support the need for MARKTIME at this point in time.
