Mainship engineers and designers have utilized every available space in the 34 to offer a centerline queen berth master stateroom, full head with stall shower and a salon large enough to entertain in. The galley includes a two-burner range, microwave oven, coffee maker and dual-voltage refrigerator and freezer. Countertops are genuine Corian and all hardware and fixtures are first-class. The covered aft deck includes molded steps to the bridge for safe and easy access. The upper helm station carries full instrumentation, and there is plenty of room for electronics as well. An optional lower station is available as well. The proven hull design is easily driven by the standard single diesel or by twins. A full sand shoe protects the single screw model, while twin screws are recessed into efficient tunnels for shallow water operation.
The Mainship Pilot 30 is at home on the Chesapeake as well as in the Bahamas or the San Juan Islands. The full protection of the sand shoe design allows for beaching and running in shallow water. The full keel provides excellent stability in a beam sea while allowing the boat to track like it was on rails. The classic down-east look is enhanced by the sturdy low-maintenance aluminum bow and safety rails. Whether the purpose is to fish, dive or cruise, this Pilot 30 can fit the bill. The elongated cockpit allows for plenty of anglers, and the wide covering boards will accept a battalion of rod holders. The large head boasts a Corian counter, an electric toilet and an integral shower, plus dry storage and a mirror. The single diesel will propel the Pilot 30 at a pleasant turn of speed while providing a truly economical rate of consumption. The wood-free exterior needs only soap and water and some waxing to maintain the sheen of the premium MaxGuard gelcoat. The Pilot 30 is ergonomically designed to give the captain an excellent vantage point to observe surroundings and to pilot in safety. The tilt-out helm station offers plenty of space to accept all kinds of electronics (including an optional bow-thruster keypad). Sliding helm and companion seats make the cruising even more comfortable.
I brought this boat down from Oriental, NC single handed, after not having a small outboard since i was 17. It is such a managable boat that I had no problems at all. This boat has never not started in the 4 yrs I have owned it. I have priced it for a quick sale as I recently discovered a severe medical problem. The Mainship Pilot 34 has the seakeeping abilities of the lobster boats it has descended from. It has a steep plumb bow and a gentle rise of the sheer; both of these qualities give the Pilot 34 the ability to cut through head seas, while the rounded forward hull sections provide a soft entry. Flatter sections aft increase lift for speed and economy, and the deep full keel with a complete sand shoe gives stability and protection from grounding. In the cockpit, the Pilot 34 has double-wide helm and companion seats flanking the large hydraulically-assisted engine access hatch. The side lounges can double as berths with the removable backrests. A tilt-up console means easy access to electronics and wiring, and there is a built-in insulated cooler box as well as a standard transom door. Below, the cabin has a large head complete with Corian covered vanity, lots of storage, a shower, and even a VacuFlush head. The teak-trimmed galley offers plenty of storage, ample Corian counter space, a microwave, a dual cooktop, and a refrigerator and freezer. The large dinette easily converts to a double berth and includes plenty of storage. . Forward in the stateroom, hanging lockers and drawers will swallow gear for the weekend or a month. Extra-long innerspring berths guarantee a great night's sleep.
