Description
Magnifico One Tonner One-Off built by the De Cesari “Garibaldi” Shipyard in 1979, designed by Scott Kaufman, a boat that won the Italian championship in 1982 in Punta Ala and participated in the world championship (One Ton Cup in Naples, 7th place) with excellent results in many other races. An iconic boat of the IOR period and of the De Cesari Shipyard, still today a leader in the construction of laminated cross-grain mahogany using west-system techniques for hull maintenance similar to fiberglass boats but with the charm of mahogany. The second and last owner since 1995 has rejuvenated the boat for cruising use as well, with 7 berths and a complete redesign of the interior layout, engine replacement, and more as per the specifications.
External description: first cockpit dedicated to the helmsman with a tiller and an ergonomic second cockpit with 10 maneuvering winches and a hydraulic control unit for adjusting the vang, baby stay, and backstay, a forestay with double use for fractional sails and a roller furler from Stern, non-structural steering wheels, and at the bow, two new portholes and a chain locker.
Internal description: mahogany furniture added in 2001 with two double berths at the stern, a galley opposite a sofa/crew berth with a category, a central table in the dinette with opposing sofas/berth, and a spacious bathroom at the bow across the full beam. Lazy bag and lazy jack for the mainsail and awnings for shading. In 1990, the engine and transmission were changed to sail drive.
Elegance and performance from a racer with comfortable open-space interiors for true cruising-racing use, the design by Kaufmann, a prestigious designer of the IOR era, and a Made in Italy construction, maintenance carried out to a high standard by the builder's shipyard and by a passionate owner for 30 years.
