Description
In 1985 Philippe Jeantot (two-time solo ocean racing world champion and founder of the Vendée Globe) designed his first cruising catamaran: comfort, sturdiness, and safety on long voyages were the guiding criteria. This was the birth of the PRIVILEGE series, a worldwide synonym for quality and safety among catamarans.
Three owners in total, including the current one since 2017, the Privilege 12 offers generous space and comfort for 8 people
This Privilege 12 underwent a major refit starting in 2018. The goal, after 30 years of service, was to restore and further enhance its legendary safety, comfort, and autonomy by using state-of-the-art materials, equipment, and technologies. Below are the most significant works carried out:
- 2018
3 bilge compartments per hull, each equipped with a 95 L/min automatic/manual pump
New shrouds + full inspection with removal and reinstallation of all chainplates
Thru-hull fittings and valves in RANDEX
4 additional mooring cleats for easier handling in demanding berths

All new plexiglass windows in the saloon
New saloon headliners; cabin headliners refurbished
Halyards and sheets 90% replaced + additional backstay
New mast electrical wiring
Double navigation lights for better visibility in all sea conditions
New electrical system
Additional winches, stoppers, and fast-running blocks for sail controls
Deck repainted with Kiwigrip

Engine risers replaced with stainless-steel units with sacrificial anodes
Furling systems for genoa and mainsail overhauled
New deck floodlight
New Quick shore-power battery charger + VICTRON galvanic isolator for 220V
