Owners comments
I've had the pleasure of owning this Nicholson 345 since 2011, and I can confidently say it's been an exceptional sailing experience. This yacht truly shines in its sailing qualities, an easy motion through the waves with a stability that's reassuring in heavy weather. This was emphasised when three Nicholson 345s entered the 1979 Fastnet Race. They were all knocked down but came through unscathed. Its performance to windward is particularly impressive, it is a quick yacht allowing me to confidently tackle challenging passages without compromising on control. Whether I'm weekend sailing or cruising on longer passages, the yacht has consistently delivered safe and enjoyable sailing.
I've extensively sailed my Nicholson on the East Coast when it was moored on the River Orwell. I moved the yacht to Portsmouth Harbour in 2015 which has been ideal for exploring the south coast to Cornwall and across to the beautiful coastline of northern France and Brittany. Each voyage has reinforced my admiration for this yacht's capabilities and design. The flexible accommodation of two double cabins and four births in the saloon allows various combinations of crew and family. This Nicholson has proven itself to be a reliable and trustworthy companion and now I’m in my late 70’s I will be sad to see her go.
