Shape Shifter is a beautiful Whitby 42' ketch deep water sailboat that was been maintained by the current owner. Estimated to weigh 23,500 pounds. 42 feet long with a draft of 5 feet and sail area of 875 Sq ft. We want to be straight forward with this vessel. There definitely is a bit of interior work needed to be done. Varnish/woodwork/caulk/new instruments but the vessel is good to go the way it is aswell. If you want a smaller project with huge rewards this is the boat for.
The current owner has gotten bit older. His family has moved and the boat is to large for him to sail solo and enjoy, so he would like to see it go to a good home. With all boats there is some minor upkeep to be had. A small scratch on the port side paint. Some minor water/humidity intrusion on the interior. The cushions need to be replaced as there is a small bit of mold.
But overall the vessel is in pretty good shape. All of the components of the rigging, electrical, mechanical as well as the thru hulls and interior plumbing was in good working condition prior to the Boat being pulled. The batteries have been on a trickle charger and the boat has been opened up and cleaned occasionally. There are no soft spots on the deck that we are aware of or any water under the paint.
The sails are in good kept condition. There are 4 additional sails alongside the main the jib and mizzen. The masts were replaced in 2004. Semi oval aluminum extrusion.
The shrouds and stays were all replaced in 2004
Pins and turn buckles halyards and lewmar winch were all replaced in 2004.
Last known survey was 0ctober 6th 2004
