Description

Midnight Blue, a 1985 40’ Camper-Nicholson Aft Cockpit Ketch, is in excellent condition and ready for her next owner(s). The vessel is currently moored in beautiful Banderas Bay, Mexico, near Puerto Vallarta, with the owners onboard. Midnight Blue is powered by a Perkins 40HP 4-108. Her hull deck and house are in excellent condition and she recently had her Topsides painted (2016). Her Rigging was new in 2011, New 14 Gallon/Hr Echo Tech Watermaker (2011), New Self-Steering Hydrovane (2011), and her Electronics have been well maintained and updated as well: Simrad Electronic Autopilot, ICOM 700 PRO SSB and Pactor Modem (2011), Northstar 951X GPS and Garmin 76 GPS, Lowrance 3G RADAR (2012), Standard Horizon GX2100 VHF and AIS (2011), Trace 600 Watt Inverter, Hawk Eye Digital Depth Sounder, Stereo and Speakers (2 inside and 2 cockpit) and a Chelsea Boston Series Clock and Barometer.

Midnight Blue is an incredibly comfortable boat on deck and below. Her decks are easy to walk around and the teak decks are in good condition. The Cockpit is roomy, secure from weather and comfortable with cushions all around. Down below, Midnight Blue, is gorgeous with lots of varnished wood and a well laid out configuration. Her Galley is immediately to Starboard coming down the companionway ladder with a Force 10 3-Burner LPG Stove and Oven and a SeaFreeze 12V Refrigerator/Freezer. She also has a double stainless sink that has pressure water and manual foot pumps for salt and fresh water. There is lots of storage area in the galley cabinets. (On deck there is a Magma Barbeque Grill and 7lb Aluminum Propane Tank. There are 2- 10lb Aluminum Propane Tanks on deck as well for running the Stove and Oven below). On the Starboard side, across from the Galley, is a large Quarter Berth Cabin with a double berth and storage. Going forward from the Galley and Aft Cabin is a large Saloon with a long Settee and Chart Table to Port and a large Settee and a Pilot Berth to Starboard with lots of storage. Going forward from the Salon takes you to well laid out Head on the Portside and a closet and storage to Starboard. All the way forward is a private cabin with a large v-berth and more storage. Midnight Blue has a very roomy and comfortable feel down below with lots of places to relax and lots of places to store all the necessary items you need to go sailing.

For Sails, Midnight Blue has a Mainsail, Mizzen, ProFurl Roller Furling with a 150% Genoa and a 100% Jib, 110% Staysail, Storm Sail, Asymmetrical Spinnaker and a Mizzen Staysail. All sails are in good condition.

For Anchoring, Midnight Blue has a 555 Simpson Lawrence Sea Tiger Windlass, a 45lb CQR with 200’ 5/16 chain, 35lb Bruce, 40LB Danforth type Storm Anchor, Fortress Storm Anchor FX-37, 22lb Danforth and 600’ of miscellaneous 5/8 anchor rope rode.

For Electrical Power, Midnight Blue has 5 Solar Panels that keep her batteries topped off while running all systems onboard at anchor, underway or dockside. She has 2-80 Watt Panels, 2-30 Watt Panels and a 35 Watt Panel. The Trace 600 Watt Inverter turns the DC to AC for any onboard needs.

For Safety, Midnight Blue has a Givens 6-person Life Raft, ACR 406 RapidFix EPIRB (new batteries 2011), 4 Fire Extinguishers, 6 PFD’s, 1 LIfesling and 1 Throw Ring.

Midnight Blue also includes an AB 10’ Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) with a 4HP Yamaha 4-stroke outboard engine and 2 Trolling Fishing Poles and Reels (Penn 4 & Penn 5).

The current owners have lived aboard Midnight Blue for over a decade and have sailed her to Mexico from the States, then to Hawaii and back and all through Mexico. They have continued to work on the boat and update her during their ownership to keep her ship-shape and looking good and always ready to go ‘anywhere’.

Banderas Bay is a magical place to sail in Mexico and a great launching off place for going down the Central American Coast, through the Panama Canal or out to the South Pacific and Beyond. She’d also be a great boat to ‘ship’ north to the Pacific Northwest and sail down the coast to horizons unknown! Or just keep her where she is – in Paradise!

Showings available immediately by appointment only.
