Vessel Description and layout
MV Seaworld Observatory was built in 1995 by Midship Marine as a Seatrec model deep hull surface vessel profiled to resemble a submarine, powered by two John Deer 75 HP diesel powered v-drive engines. The hull, decks and superstructure were aluminum fabricated with three freshwater ballast tanks, two diesel tanks and an auxiliary 8kW gasoline generator. The main deck included bench seating for 40 passengers and 2 crew. The main deck included a blue canopy providing ample shade. One entry point with steps leading down to the underwater viewing area with 30, 30”W x 23”H x 1” thick view ports and bench seating for 40 passengers below the water’s surface with an exit point forward leading back to main deck. The upper flybridge helm included engine controls, engine gauges, ignition and an I-com M412 VHF. The aft deck included two access hatches to the engine room followed by an aft transom swim platform with boarding ladder.
