Liveaboard and Circumnavigation, Sindbad has been a home and life for 27 years during which time the owners circumnavigated once for 10 years with their two children. They are on their second circumnavigation at present and are currently anchored between Langkawi and Phuket. Sindbad was originally built as a cargo vessel. The vessel was purchased in Denmark and gradually converted into a beautiful, comfortable, multi option money making home. The owners ran a successful sunset dinner cruise for 30 passengers for five years in St. Martin before deciding to set sail from the Caribbean in 1996; They have used her for salvage work, exploration charters and general charters, a wood working shop, a copper sculpting shop and art gallery. Recently she was chartered and used for an episode in the popular tv series 'Survivor'! Sindbad is more than a fabulous home. She provides an exciting lifestyle full of adventure. At an honest 2 litres per mile, she is relatively inexpensive to operate. A 15,000 litre fuel tank gives years of operation, 5,000 litres of water which is caught from rain and filtered. Solar panels enable them to run our 7.5 kw generator for approximately 3 hours every two - three days. The systems aboard are simple, sensible and very efficient. She has a Thrige auto pilot and Svendborg steering gear which has run non stop for 27 years maintenance free.

4 large opening portholes. Access up stairs to the wheelhouse and another door out to the main, awning covered lower deck area 15 ft X 18 ft... Varnished mahogany table and 10 deck chairs...... Teak ladders up either side of this main deck area up to the poop deck and wheelhouse.

8L3B Gardner and also has never had any problems for 27 years. It is one of the finest engines ever made. Revs are 7- 800 max, speed 6-7 kts. It doesn't burn any oil! Keel cooled, dry exhaust and when running is extremely quiet and comfortable. Excellent condition. Two starters 24VCD with separate batteries. Engine room: 7.5 kw Northern lights generator. Keel cooled, dry exhaust new in 2010 in excellent condition 110/220 VAC 7 kw Lister, in the stern, air cooled, hand start, used for welding mostly. good condition 220VAC 7 kw Markon belt driven gen 110/220 AC off the Gardner. 3.5 kw 24V DC belt driven off the Gardner excellent condition.
Main anchor D'Hone new in 2013,500lbs, Dutch built, Loyd's approved
Day anchor, Ships type 200 lbs, ex condit. These 2 anchors are port /stbd on 22 mm stud link chain, Loyd's approved, 450 ft each side. Chain new in 2012..... One shot (90') weighs 500 lbs
One Fisherman anchor 600 lbs. On a hydraulic winch drum with wire..... 750 ft x 1/2 " high strength. The hydraulic
winch is driven by a hyd. Motor clutched in off the front of the Gardner main engine
One Ships type anchor hurricane 800 lbs. All four of these anchors are in excellent condition.
The anchor windlass weighs 1000 lbs and can operate the two chain lockers separately or together if need be. It is in excellent condition, is high pressure hyd. And operates when the Gardner is running. It has it's own clutch for operating. The windlass has a 90 : 1 ratio and also has a hand crank option.
One Norwegian fibreglass lifeboat with bowsprit jib and gaff mainsail 14 ft; lead removable ballast under the floorboards, accommodates 9 men, unsinkable and has a 4 HP outboard on a bracket. It's a go anywhere tender and is a joy to sail too! It has a full length Skeg and draught is 20".

Main deck winch forward is low press. Hyd and is driven from a take off on the Gardner. Now it is used to run the wire anchor drum for the big Fisherman and to lift the lifeboat aboard. It also has two drums which we use to put up the mainsail. It's a very solid piece of kit.

Of course the heart of this ship is the 8L3B Gardner, which has operated day in and day out for this family for 27 years and has never given an ounce of trouble. It's never been opened and has never had any need for replacement parts or mechanics. After two circumnavigations and countless other voyages the engine does not even smoke! It burns an honest 2 litres per mile at 6 to 7 knots. This engine has never broken down and with the superb hydraulics aboard it is the easiest vessel to operate.
Sindbad is a beautiful old piece of the past. Solidly and exquisitely built by craftsmen long gone. She must be seen to be appreciated., Her wheelhouse is solid teak with 10 bronze 2ft X 2 ft ports all around; the exterior is 2" mahogany planking. The varnished overhead covers the side decks and the large aft area which has a circular table and can seat six for dinner in a most romantic setting. She is an ideal home for a family to cruise the world or could be easily converted for charter, diving, salvage, a dinner cruise, air B&B, or as of late into an art gallery...
