    Sea Ray 240 Sundancer

    Portsmouth, Hampshire, United Kingdom

This is our Sea Ray 240 Sundancer that we bought at the beginning of last year’s season. We are making a significant house move and will not be able to take her with us. Avocet III is 26’ long which includes the superb swim platform. We had Flexiteek (synthetic teak panelling) installed in the cockpit and on the swim platform which makes her look even better and feels great underfoot. She has been immaculately looked after and has been kept in the Trafalgar Indoor Drystack since 2011. She had a new Mercruiser engine in 2011. The previous owner only racked up 60 hours in 10 years but religiously maintained her with regular services and winterising and I have all the records. So, while this boat is 22 years old, in reality she's really only 12 years old, because of how and where she has been kept. Since I’ve had her, she is now up to 139 hours so we have had good use over the last 2 seasons and she runs like a dream, comfortably cruising at 30 knots. Being stored at Trafalgar Drystack is a great facility – while super convenient to use, it is very significant from a care perspective – the hull and engine are washed after each use and then she is stored indoors, so for the majority of her life she has been safely tucked away from the elements completely. We have a full record of the servicing that has been carried our each year. She also has Mercury VesselView installed, so you can monitor the engine via the mobile App in real time. The cockpit features beverage holders, convenient side storage (the cockpit table is stored in here, and the battery isolator switch is also in here), a swivel bucket helm seat, an aft-facing seat with fold-down sunpad to port, foldaway aft seat, cockpit bolsters, and an easy-to-clean, self-bailing fiberglass cockpit liner so water in the cockpit simply drains back out to the ocean (great for washing the boat down). There's also a portside sun lounger with forward-facing backrest to provide even more room for family and friends to sprawl out and relax while on board. The lockable cabin door has integral fiberglass steps built right into it for easy access to the foredeck by the walk-through glass windshield with stainless steel supports. Additional standard equipment includes a pressure water system, automatic bilge pump, engine alarms, Navman GPS, VHF radio, depth/fish finder, hydraulic trim tabs, and carbon monoxide monitor in the cabin. Below, the cabin layout has plentiful storage space, a convertible dinette with storage below, dining table with dedicated storage, and an enclosed fiberglass head. At night, the V-berth becomes a comfortable bed by inserting the upholstered filler cushions. The mid “stateroom” provides additional sleeping quarters with a double bed, privacy curtain, 12V lighting, and a window (with fly screen) for fresh air. We have used her in the Solent area – from the Needles in the West to Bembridge in the East. We generally go out when the weather is good and use the Isle of Wight to shelter from swell. I have even sneaked out and worked from her when good days coincided with the working week.  With friends and family we have captured fabulous memories. Diving into freezing cold water in Scratchell's Bay in the shadow of the Needles; navigating up the Beaulieu River to the wonderfully sheltered marina and paddle boarding up the river; speeding alongside one the enormous cruise liners that leave Southampton each Saturday; and threading the exit and entry to Portsmouth Harbour is always exciting.
