Luna is a Harris built, Royal Lowell-designed 36' x 10.5' x 3' Maine built runabout. She was professionally upgraded in 1999 in a Bristol, RI boatyard where she was properly cold-molded and fiberglassed. She is rock solid and dry. No shadows of framing on her exterior. No leaking, blisters or delamination. Her original cedar decking is now covered in glassed marine ply and strong. To the decks on the outside and to the waterline inside. She was repowered with a 6.5L, 310 HP intercooled turbocharged GMC diesel marine-ized by Pennisular Marine (and now fully supported by Unique Diesel in TX). Her engine is strong and has less than 600 hours on her. Her steering is manual hydraulic with two rams. She has a dripless shaft and a four-bladed 18 R 18 bronze prop. This boat is the predecessor of today's picnic boats and fancy runabouts. I think she is prettier. Unlike today's vessels she is super simple. I have barely any electronics on her. A pair of batteries with an isolator and heavy duty recharger are tied to a simple panel. You can add whatever you like but I've liked it simple. Since 2014 I have only put 150 hours on the engine. In the past 5 years, less than 50. Kids grow, life is busy and we just don't use it like I expected. These days my kids want to hang with their friends more often than not. I don't need a 36' boat to putter around by myself. I'd like her to go to someone who can plan their own adventures aboard. She is a total head turner and expect to get lots of questions and compliments. She cuts the water very smoothly and loves a head sea. Below the water line she is a classic downeast semi-displacement hull. Above she has a proud bow, beautiful sweeping curves, a soft chine and tumblehome. I took her to Tarpaulin cove today at 12.5 knots at 2400 rpm. She will top out at more than 22kt and she cuts the water like a needle. I can't say for sure how she does on fuel but she seems pretty economical. I am fortunate to be able to keep her at work on our dock so she is always plugged in and well sheltered. She has a collapsible canvas top with a stainless frame which I don't have installed will include. She came with outriggers that I never used. I have Brownell boat stands for when she is hauled out. She is plumbed for, but does not have a head. I have always employed a different solution that allows my visitor to pack everything out when we return to shore. I'm happy to tell you more about her.
