UNDER CONTRACT FLASH is probably the finest example of this legendary model.  She has the best in sailing equipment, high-tech electrical system, complete electronics, and all systems for the serious sailor.  She is stunning and a real head-turner.  Photos of her have graced the covers and cruising articles in many sailing rags including Blue Water Sailing Magazine, Multihulls Quarterly, and, the Salty Dawgs’ “Dawg Tales” newsletter.  She has never been chartered and has had only two owners. FLASH’s hulls have been expertly finished in AwlGrip AwlCraft 2000, Mid-Atlantic Blue with a clear coat, and is easy to maintain.  No expensive, annual buffing of gel coat – FLASH has that “like new” look all the time. FLASH boasts lithium batteries for her house bank – light weight, small footprint, long-lived, and rapid charging.  These are the LiFePO4, safe version. The installation on Flash has added-safety monitoring, alarms and safety disconnect features.  Owners’ report – this is a fantastic cruising feature. FLASH’s electrical system is the latest technology, digital switching with reliable, marinized Mastervolt digital switching devices in place of the unreliable, original French circuit boards, or “carte’s” in other Catana 471’s.  There are no carte’s on Flash!  Mastervolt Touch-Screen control and readout panel.  Monitor voltage and current down every wire from your computer; numerous owner-specified settings like soft-fuses; dimmable lighting – direct from the Mastervolt DSD devices – no dimmers needed; digital tank monitors.  Mastervolt DSD’s network with Mastervolt: chargers, inverter, shunt, tank monitors, switch interfaces, control panel switches, computer USB interface, and Touch-Screen panel.  LED lights throughout.  New technology hardtop mounted solar panels.  And, wired to meet US 110-VAC requirements, as opposed to the European wiring and outlets found on many 471/472’s. FLASH’s interior is stunning as well, with custom dark blue Ultraleather in the salon; attractive appointments throughout; custom galley with oversized US SS sink and granite-look laminate countertops on cored panel (much lighter and more practical on a performance catamaran than heavy granite or Corian.)  Her salon interior is the attractive, desirable Cruisers’ layout with more legroom, a larger galley, and a more-convenient nav station than the standard, production layout. FLASH’s cockpit is graced by a custom, varnished cockpit table with wood-inlaid trim.  It is a conversation piece often photographed by guests.  Cockpit side panels and windshield keep you dry; or slip in screen mesh panels for airflow and sun protection all the way around; and, helm and cockpit cushions with ultraplush EZ-Dry foam. FLASH has numerous other features making her top notch in all regards: custom starboard helm station bimini; high-tech, extremely low stretch dP-Hydranet fabric in the radial cut main and genoa sails; high tech and lightweight Code-Zero in Tecnora cloth with the best sail handling equipment; one of the most powerful SSB rigs of any cruising boat; plus radar, electric primaries, lightweight NEXT-GEN 5.5 kW generator (only 274 lbs), air conditioning, high-capacity Spectra watermaker, latest technology touch-screen chart-plotters at helm and nav station, multi-function (7) instruments around the vessel including the owner’s stateroom, autopilot controls at both helm stations, and remote autopilot control from the Nav station or anywhere on the vessel with the remote. FLASH is owned and expertly maintained by an extremely experienced yachtsman and spouse, who have continuously owned blue water sailing yachts over a 35 year period, and have each logged nearly 200,000 miles under sail.  They volunteer their time to help developing blue water sailors, and have led many Salty Dawg Rallies to the Caribbean, Maine, and Nova Scotia. Their expertise ensures FLASH is at the top of her game. FLASH is outfitted with most everything needed to sailaway. Included are dishes, cutlery, pots, pans and linens. FLASH is ready for long distance passage-making swiftly and in comfort.  The Catana 471 has been praised and coveted for her build-quality, performance, cruising comfort, and lasting value.  This model, when first released in 1999, was voted Cruising World Magazine’s “Best Cruising Multihull.”  She is still widely considered the gold standard - other performance catamarans are compared to this legendary model. And, Flash is the queen of C-471 fleet.

  3. Catana 471 OWNER VERSION

    Catana 471 OWNER VERSION

    Savannah, Georgia, United States
    2001
    $506,291

This is a beautiful owner version of the celebrated Catana 471. The consummate blue water, performance cat: very high freeboard and bridgedeck clearance for comfortable, safe offshore work; dagger-boards for windward performance; carbon rig with stainless shrouds and forestay for reliability; a high-tech hull constructed of PVC foam core/vinyl-ester resin with carbon and kevlar reinforcements provides the ideal combination of stiffness, strength and light weight.  "4 TALES" is a two owner yacht that has never chartered. It spent most of its career in the dry climate of California and was recently moved to Georgia by its current owners. It has had very light use in the last three years and the owners have made some significant upgrades. Most notably, a Leisure Furl in-boom mainsail was installed in 2018 to facilitate sail handling. The headsail inventory includes two genoas (120% and 95%), a screecher and two spinnakers (symmetric and asymmetric). The rod headstay was replaced in September 2020 and the two shrouds in March 2021. The trampoline was just replaced in January 2021.   This yacht features 110V and 12V systems and equipment. A large solar array and large alternators power the amenities on board including a large water-maker, washer/dryer. Onboard electronics feature an ICOM SSB/Pactor Modem, Satphone, radar, and two flat-screen TVs. 4 TALES is ready to go cruising to the Bahamas, Caribbean or further. She is US flagged and duty paid. A gorgeous cat that combines distinguished pedigree with true oceanic capability.  .
