Description
The Safe Harbour 12, designed by Paul Fisher of Sailway Fisher Designs is a modern interpretation of the “Dark Harbour 12”, a classic American racing sloop designed by B. B. Crowninshields in 1915, who was one of Americas most famous and prolific naval architects and best known for his work on “America Cup” contenders.
This sailing yacht has been professionally constructed to an exceptional standard in 2010; the combination of superb craftsmanship and a classic design updated make this vessel unique. Her classic long lines are both beautiful to look at as well as testament to the fact that she is designed to perform.
The sea trials when she was launched in the summer of 2010 were a delight. Her owner described how “she powers along in 15 knots winds, has virtually no weather helm, is sensitive yet stable and gives plenty of confidence even when the going gets tough”.The opportunity to own such a superbly designed and constructed sailing vessel comes about only very occasionally; and this is one of those very rare opportunities.
The trailer is provided at nil cost, sold as seen. A Torqueedo electric motor is available as separate negotiation. This 2024 motor has completed very few hours and is currently under warranty.
Construction and Accomodation
Made from Iroko with Cedar strips and Glass Cloth she is incredibly strong and with a lead fin keel is stable in even the most challenging conditions. This is a "home build" but was surveyed upon completion and also in 2024, verifying that she was built to the same exacting standards as the designer would have had it.
Her rigging is 2010 as are the Z spars aluminium mast and boom. She comes with a number of sails including main sail with 2 slab reefing and head sail.
Tiller steered with depth and compass.
